Adriana Roma

DJ and producer.

"The hardest thing, I think, is overcoming the taboos surrounding the words lesbian or bisexual. I know that, compared to other times, we don’t have it as tough, but I’ve still received comments like, ‘Let’s see you kiss,’ to which I reply, ‘You kiss him,’ and they get all confused, haha. Or the assumption that just because you’re a lesbian or bisexual, you must hate men, which couldn’t be further from the truth—I think most of my best friends are men. The most beautiful thing is having the courage and strength to say, ‘I don’t care,’ and keep doing whatever I want. There will always be people who judge, disagree, or don’t understand."

A graduate of the Design School at the National Institute of Fine Arts, she is a comprehensive designer and co-founder of WOMXN, a collective and agency aimed at increasing the visibility of women in the national electronic music scene.
