LGBTI Resistances
Purmaraca, Argentina
Marina Vilte
They defines herself as kolla, non-binary lesbian and human rights activist. Her name is a legacy because she is the niece of Marina Leticia Vilte, a militant and unionist who was disappeared during the last civic, military and ecclesiastical dictatorship. She explains it like this: “I am lucky or privileged to have a very socially committed family.” They mother and aunts taught her the pride of assuming the Kolla identity and she added, because of her life story, the pride of coming out of the closet and assuming her sexual identity. Identity for your entire family is a very strong crossing of intersections. They grew up in the March 24 marches demanding for her missing namesake aunt plus the enormous militancy around her family's Kolla identity. And years later, militancy in pursuit of respect and visibility of sexual diversity and dissidence.
