Rico Dalasam
Brazilian singer, songwriter, and rapper. Dalasam is an acronym for the phrase "Disponho Armas Libertárias a Sonhos Antes Mutilados" ("I Provide Libertarian Weapons to Dreams Previously Mutilated"). Openly gay, he is a representative of the LGBT community in what is known as queer rap. He cites Rick James, Prince, and André 3000 as musical influences.
One of his musical inspirations is the acceptance of his own sexuality, addressed in the songs "Aceite-C" and "Não Posso Esperar," featured on his extended play (EP) Modo Diverso, with the former serving as its promotional single.
He released his debut album Orgunga in June 2016, a title combining the Portuguese words for "pride, Black, and gay" (orgulho, negro e gay). He also gained widespread recognition after releasing a music video featuring Pabllo Vittar, "Todo Dia," which surpassed 10 million views within two months of its release.
