Bela Vista, Brasil

Ney Matogrosso

He is a Brazilian singer, producer, director, and occasional actor. A former member of Secos & Molhados (1973-1974), he is the most prominent artist from the group since starting his solo career in 1975. Rolling Stone magazine named him the third greatest Brazilian voice and the thirty-first best Brazilian artist of all time. He has released 25 studio albums, 9 live albums, and one compilation album.

His use of makeup and exotic clothing, along with his choreographed performances, made him a pop icon in the late seventies and early eighties, comparable to David Bowie or Elton John, while also boosting his fame throughout Latin America. Since then, he has become one of the most recognized and respected artists in Brazil. In 2014, he received the Latin Grammy Award for Musical Excellence, and in 2017, he was awarded the Prêmio da Música Brasileira in recognition of his entire career.
