The song "Balada de Gisberta", performed in the first person by Maria Bethânia, tells the story of the Brazilian transgender woman Gisberta Salce. Pedro Abrunhosa composed the song, which the artist recorded for the album "Amor Festa Devoção" (2010).

Who was Gisberta Salce from "Balada de Gisberta"? Gisberta left Brazil at the age of 18 due to fear of violence against transvestites and trans people... she became a symbol in the fight against transphobia in Portugal after her tragic end. Her murder inspired the first LGBT Pride March in Porto in 2006. (source 2)
