Tribalistas

Tribalistas is a Brazilian musical trio composed of Marisa Monte, Arnaldo Antunes and Carlinhos Brown. Before Tribalistas emerged, the three members had worked together several times on compositions for their solo albums. In March 2001, they decided to meet in Bahia, composed 20 songs, and in April of the following year they recorded 13 of them for the publication of their first album. The Tribalistas album had the particularity of having been made in a very hasty manner due to the short time that the artists had. The album was recorded in thirteen days, one per song. The album sold more than 1.5 million copies in Brazil alone. In total, more than 2.1 million copies were sold. He received five Latin Grammy nominations in 2003, winning one. Some songs from the CD and DVD were remastered and were very successful in Europe. The trio decided not to go on a concert tour, performing only a few live performances: at the Latin Grammy, on the DVD Ao Vivo no Estúdio and the third time, open to the public at Sarau do Brown.

Gal Costa

Maria da Graça "Gal" Costa Penna Burgos (1945-2022)

Gal is the magician, the sorceress, the enchanter, of Brazilian music. Behind his curls, neither knives nor weapons of the devil, but the covers of some of the most emotional albums in modern Brazilian music.

Perhaps no one like Gal and Bethania, like the world of Almodóvar, like the poetry of the Spanish Golden Age, like a rhymed Freud, taught us to understand women in a different way. To women who love other women. And they sing songs written by men, about women... from the women's point of view.
