‘¡Que se prenda la bulla!’ represents the culmination of an ancestral trans journey that evokes the Chicamocha Canyon, the Magdalena River, and its meeting with the Caribbean Sea as places that allow unexpected transitions: joys and sorrows are recounted through the powerful voice of the Afro-trans singer-songwriter La Morena del Chicamocha.

To traverse the territory as one traverses the body, through dance and the beat of the drum.

This musical performance is an excuse to evoke the memory of those who are no longer among us and call them through the lereos, wapirreos, and verses that transcend the boundaries of death.

La Morena del Chicamocha

This musical project, led since 2017 by the Afro-trans singer-songwriter Magdalena Moreno, presents a distinct approach to traditional music, where narratives in embodied presence take precedence as a way to include and vindicate the role of diverse bodies. Its sound represents a young, inclusive, gender-conscious, and contemporary approach, allowing a better understanding of the modernity in traditional music. Moreover, this project promotes the space for teaching, creation, and promotion of the oral and musical heritage of sung dances through training workshops that, from various narrative perspectives, uphold the traditional music of the Caribbean and Afro-Colombian regions.
